November 28, 2017 @ 6:15 pm - 8:15 pm
SPEAKER : To be Advised
TOPIC: Concorde, the supersonic jet plane of a bygone era. Interesting facts and Trivia.
The Concorde was jointly developed by the French Company Aerospatiale and British Airways.
Aérospatiale/BAC Concorde is a British-French turbojet-powered supersonic passenger jet that was operated until 2003. It had a maximum speed over twice the speed of sound at Mach 2.04 (1,354 mph or 2,180 km/h at cruise altitude), with seating for 92 to 128 passengers. While subsonic commercial jets took eight hours to fly from New York to Paris, the average supersonic flight time on the transatlantic routes was just under 3.5 hours.
The first flight was in March 1969. It was a further 7 years before the first commercial flight took off from Heathrow Airport in January 1976.
The last flight was in October 2003.
