Club Dinner Meeting – Speaker: Phil McDonald – “Retracing Steps of Burke & Wills”

Phil McDonald, a past Rotary Club of Lilydale member during the 1980s- 1990s.  In 1988 [ the Bi-Centennial Year]   Phil, along with a support crew from the Club, rode a Penny Farthing bicycle 15,000 kilometres around Australia, raising in excess of $100,000.00 going towards Rotary Foundation’s Polio Plus Campaign.

Following Phil’s attendance as Guest Speaker to the Club’s 50th Anniversary Dinner in November 2015, Phil suffered a heart attack.   As part of his recovery program, he commenced walking and taking on a number of ventures, leading to crossing the country.

Walked 3,204 km – 35 km daily average, Solo Walk Across Australia

Meeting Details

The Rotary Club of Lilydale currently meets bi-weekly on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month. We meet at York on Lilydale, start arriving from 6:30 pm for 7:00 pm start.

Enter the Function room via Carpark. In the foyer look out for RCL sandwich board.
