TOPIC: Lilydale Men’s Health Promotion Pilot Project in place for Lilydale Football and Netball Club
No doubt you are aware of the lack of services and programs which aim to help men and boys to be as healthy and happy as they can be. And also of the difficulty in persuading men to come along to those things which might help them. Yet healthy men are usually happier men, better partners, better dads and more active contributors to their communities.
The Lilydale Men’s Health Promotion Pilot Project was devised and implemented at the Lilydale Football and Netball Club.
The Pilot Project engages with men using the three key concepts of adult learning:
it provides Information = Knowledge;
it shares with them practical tips, tricks and Skills; by providing inspiring presentations and role models it hopefully enables them to be Motivated.
The underlying Health Principles are :
(1) Prevention is better than Cure; and
(2) Early Detection is better than Late.
